PLF Practice Management Attorney

The Oregon State Bar Professional Liability Fund’s Department of Risk Management Services is hiring a full-time practice management attorney (PMA) to join its unique, well-established, and nationally recognized Practice Management Assistance Program. The Professional Liability Fund (PLF) is the mandatory provider of primary legal malpractice coverage for Oregon lawyers in private practice. As a PMA, you will have the opportunity to make a lasting and meaningful contribution to the Oregon legal profession.

The PMAs assist and educate lawyers and law office staff in all aspects of law practice management and malpractice prevention. They are frequently sought-after to present CLEs and write for various legal publications such as the PLF’s inBrief, its inPractice blog, the Oregon State Bar Bulletin, and other media outlets. The PMAs also take an active role in developing law practice forms and handbooks that assist lawyers in private practice, as well as creating content for online toolkits and other PLF resources. Additional areas of PMA assistance include opening or closing a law practice, departing or joining a firm, improving client relations, and trust accounting. You will be joining a team of dedicated professionals in a supportive, affirming workplace.

Preferred applicants will have:

• At least five years of experience practicing law and some experience managing a law practice
• A high level of working knowledge of law practice management technology and law office systems
• A wide range of professional aptitudes, including interpersonal, organizational, analytical, presentation, and writing skills
• The ability to synthesize and explain complicated information and to communicate clearly and compassionately
• The capacity to work independently and also function effectively as a member of a team
• Initiative, good judgment, and the ability to collaborate with other professionals and develop a professional network to support your work

The PLF offers a competitive salary and excellent benefits, including participation in the Oregon PERS/OPSRP program. Salary range is $72,693 - $98,342.
