2021 Learning The Ropes

Date:November 17, 2021

The Professional Liability Fund is sponsoring “Learning The Ropes,” a practical skills CLE for new admittees to the Oregon State Bar and lawyers entering private practice in Oregon.  In 2021, this annual program will be a hybrid conference, with the entire program presented live and in person while also offering a virtual option through Zoom.  The seminar will be held Wednesday through Friday, November 17-19, 2021. The in-person conference will take place at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel, 1000 NE Multnomah Street, Portland, OR 97232. The attendance at the in-person program will be capped at 70 people to allow for social distancing.

The CLE includes information on developing a successful practice and avoiding legal malpractice; practical tips from lawyers and judges; advice on setting up effective office systems; ethics tips; presentations by lawyers working in various practice settings and areas of law; mental health and substance use education; and segments that fulfill your Introductory Access to Justice MCLE requirement. Attendance at the full program will satisfy all of the MCLE requirements for new admittees’ first reporting period. The entire agenda is available under the program materials link.

You will be asked during the registration process if you plan to attend the conference in person or virtually. Please plan on attending the entire conference in the same format. The conference fee is $75 for either in-person or virtual attendance. To start registering, please select the live event icon below.

To participate in the conference virtually, you will need a Zoom account. During the registration process, you will be asked for the email address connected with your Zoom account. You can participate in the conference using the free version of Zoom. You do not need to purchase the paid version to access this CLE.

The PLF and the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel will be following all COVID-19 restrictions and guidelines that are in effect at the time of the conference.

We hope you will join us in November for this highly regarded annual CLE program in the format you are most comfortable participating!
